Paxos Biennale is thrilled to announce an open call for video artworks across all mediums and practices. We are looking to showcase on the Cinema section the extraordinary talent of artists who push boundaries, challenge perceptions, and enhance the tapestry of art through video. We embrace all kind of arts but focusing more on performance art, contemporary dance, video art & film.

Based on our thematic MANIFESTO OF MEMORY, we are examining the relationship between the olive tree, its conceptual entanglements, and the deadly bacterium Xylella which threatens the existence of olive trees.

How can we preserve memory and transform this particularly complex and significant concept in human experience? From sensory memory, which stores the sensation of a raindrop hitting our face, to long-term memory, which preserves memories from our childhood or even historical and traditional events, memory plays a vital role in shaping our identity and social consciousness. Our aim is to analyze the world's political situation and create a new visual Manifesto of Memory through video artworks, where each artist will contribute to and participate in the creation of a future memory for the next generations. Can we imagine or project ourselves into the future and imagine what memories one might have of events, experiences, or situations that have not yet taken place? And how could we explore possibilities, anticipate outcomes, or shape aspirations for the future?

We thank you for your interest in the Paxos Biennale and look forward to reviewing your unique and creative expressions of art.
